Everything you need to know about vapes
Now that more people understand the dangers of cigarette smoking, many adult smokers who do not quit are searching for better options. Vapes have been one of the smoking alternatives that people are trying. Here is everything you need to know.
What is vape?
Vapes differ in size, power and customisation options. You can find a variety of vape devices based on the brand, with some containing nicotine and/or flavours.
How is a vape different from a cigarette?
Unlike cigarette smoking, vapes are smoke-free alternatives to continued smoking that provide a nicotine-containing aerosol without combustion, thus with potentially lower levels of harmful and potentially harmful chemicals, although not risk-free. Of course, it is a matter of scientific assessment of each particular vape to see if this is actually the case. Vapes work by heating e-liquids, which are generally flavoured and contain nicotine, in order to create an aerosol. The aerosol is drawn from the device through a mouthpiece.
E-liquid for vapes can be flavoured. Because vapes do not use real tobacco, moving from cigarettes to vapes will require users to adapt to new taste profiles as the taste that one gets will differ.
Even though some vapes are tobacco flavoured, it is not the same as a cigarette because, ultimately, vapes do not burn tobacco. While it may be a better alternative to continued smoking, it is proven that vaping is not risk-free, and many e-cigarettes provide nicotine, which is addictive.
If an adult smoker would like to reduce health risks, quitting tobacco and nicotine use altogether is the best option.
Are you looking for more smoking alternatives?
Vapes are just one of many smoking alternatives. If an adult smoker is looking for real tobacco taste, IQOS heat-not-burn devices use real tobacco, as opposed to a liquid as in the case of a vape or e-cigarette.
Crucially, with IQOS, the tobacco never burns. Based on the totality of scientific evidence for IQOS in comparison to continuing to smoke, switching completely to IQOS is likely to present less risk to your health than continuing to smoke.
When a smoker takes a puff of a burning cigarette, the temperature rises to 800°, generating smoke, ash, and the majority of harmful chemicals, which public health experts agree are the leading cause of tobacco-related disease. On the other hand, heat-not-burn devices heat the tobacco to 350°C.
Since the tobacco is heated and not burned, IQOS emits, on average, 95% lower levels of harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes. This does not necessarily equal a 95% reduction in risk. It should be noted that IQOS is not risk free and “95% less” represents the average reductions in levels of a range of harmful chemicals (excluding nicotine) compared to the smoke of a reference cigarette.
